This is the second year I have ever cooked Thanksgiving dinner, the first one with guests in town, and I am a little nervous to say the least!  So I am already planning my menu and coming up with a list of must-haves.

Pie is a definite must-have in my house for Thanksgiving!  And while I LOVE the traditional Pumpkin, Pecan or Apple pies, I had the idea to include a Chocolate Mousse Pie into this year's menu!  Yum!

So I created this yummy Dark Chocolate Truffle Mousse Pie recipe that is simple to make and also won't break the bank!  And with how quickly it is being eaten in my house right now, there is a good chance this will be making an appearance at the Thanksgiving day table this year!

Dark Chocolate Truffle Mousse Pie

Ingredients:
  • (1) Frozen Pie Crust (Marie Callender's or similar)
  • (1) Dark Chocolate Truffle Mousse mix (Dr Oetker or similar)
  • 1 cup milk* (or ingredients called for to make the mousse mix)
  • 4 oz. Frozen Whipped Topping
Directions:
  1. Bake frozen pie crust according to package directions.  Let cool completely.
  2. Make mousse mix according to package directions.  My mix called for 1 cup of milk to be beaten with the mix, but yours might be different, so follow package instructions to make the mousse.*
  3. Spread chocolate mousse into baked pie shell.
  4. Top with approximately 4 oz of whipped topping.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour prior to serving.
  6. You can also top this with shredded chocolate if desired right before serving.

My son helped me mix the mousse mix up with our hand beaters.  It only took a few minutes to throw this pie together but it was a HUGE hit with my family!

I  love creating simple and tasty desserts, and this is both!  It pulled together without a lot of work and I can easily make this ahead of time for Thanksgiving!

Plus I could easily keep these ingredients on hand in my pantry and freezer in case I need to whip up a last minute dessert to take somewhere!

And while this is not a healthy recipe, I love shopping for staples to keep my freezer stocked in the frozen food section!  There are a lot of tasty and tempting foods in that aisle, but there are also a lot of great whole and natural foods as well!  Since freezing is the best preservation method, I love that I can get great fruits and vegetables all year long, regardless of season and without the worry of something spoiling!
