Big thanks to Michaels for making this post possible!  All opinions are mine.

I recently made a JOY decoration for my home and love love LOVE it (check it out here)!  It is truly one of my favorite holiday creations this year!  And today I am excited to show you another JOY decoration that is even easier to make but a little more sparkly!  Woot woot!

I was so excited when a huge box of Michaels Recollections Glitter showed up at my door to try out!  Recollections Glitter is available exclusively from Michaels and comes in a beautiful variety of colors and styles.  From very fine glitter to chunky to tinsel, this is some of the prettiest glitter I have seen! You can purchase it individually or in sets and the glitter starts at $3.99.  (Be sure to bring your coupon in too!)

To recreate this JOY decoration, you will need:

  • oval wooden plaque
  • decorative wooden plaque
  • J, O, Y wooded letters
  • wood glue
  • brown and cream paint
  • mod podge
  • paint brush
  • Michaels Recollections Glitter

First you will want to paint all of your plaques and your letters and let them dry.  Then go ahead and wood glue your two plaques together and let them dry.

While they are drying, paint mod podge over the top of your letters.  Note: you should really do this before attaching your letters to the board...it will be much easier in the end I promise!

Then sprinkle the Recollections Glitter of your choice on your letters and let it dry!  If you haven't already attached your letters to your top plaque, use a little wood glue to secure them in place and let them dry!

This would be fun to create for any holiday or season and makes a perfect small home decoration or last minute gift!

So next time you're in Michaels, be sure to check out their amazing Recollections Glitter!  It is so so beautiful!  I can't stop dreaming up projects to create with it!
