Hi everyone! Heidi from Happiness is Homemade here, and I am so happy to be here sharing one of my favorite holiday kids crafts - yarn wrapped Christmas trees!

These adorable Christmas trees are simple to create, but the yarn wrapping can be a bit fussy, so I recommend this craft for ages 6+ if they are working independently or younger with adult assistance.

Supplies Needed:

  • Styrofoam cone
  • Tacky glue
  • Yarn
  • Straight pin (not pictured)
  • Buttons, pom poms, etc. for "ornaments"

Start by using the straight pin to secure the end of the yarn to the top of the tree to help keep it in place.

Spread a thin layer of tacky glue to the top 2" of the tree.

Start wrapping the yarn around the tree. Try to keep the rows of yarn neat and close together. When you reach the bottom 2" of the tree, apply another layer of glue to keep the yarn in place.

Set aside and allow to dry completely. Once dry, remove the straight pin from the top of the tree.

Add a tree topper - gift bows, ribbons and pom poms all work great - and decorate your tree with button and pom pom ornaments.

Aren't they just the cutest? Happy holidays from Happiness is Homemade!

Those are really cute. What else can you wrap with yarn?
