I wanted to squeeze in a kid-craft for the 4th of July.  Before it was too late.

"America day" as my daughter calls it, is surprisingly one of her favorite holidays!  She talks about it a LOT!  And insists on having flags to wave and a special outfit to wear!  Too cute!

So for fun we found some patriotic scrapbook paper and made a few pinwheels!  They are so super easy.  And a great activity for the kids to do.  But, depending on the age, they might need some adult help, and certainly supervision!

You will need:

  • Paper
  • Wooden dowels
  • Thumb tacks
  • Scissors
To do:
Cut your paper into squares.  I made 6"x6", 5"x5" and a 4"x4" squares.
Next, cut each square starting at the outside corner, headed into the middle.  Stop just short of the middle though.  Do this for all four corners.

Using your tack, pin every other corner into the center of the paper.
Push the tack into your wooden dowel.
Let your kids enjoy these fun patriotic pinwheels!!

Super cute! I made a bunch for Grady's first birthday. I thought they made cute centerpieces!
