Mango Smoothies

Using mangos in smoothies is a great way to create a wonderfully creamy smoothie.  Mangos don't contain a lot of water, but they are full of fiber, so they help smoothies bind together to create a lovely consistency.

If you often find that your smoothies are icy, you want to make sure you add something that helps bind smoothies together that is full of fiber like a banana or mango.

Fresh vs Frozen Fruit in Smoothies

Fresh and frozen fruit both work well for smoothies, but the results will often vary a little bit.  Here are a few tips to know when using fresh or frozen fruit in smoothies.

  • Fresh fruit (especially fruit in season) will give your smoothie a richer, more flavorful smoothie.
  • Fresh fruit will yield a sweeter smoothie.
  • Fresh fruit will often result in a prettier color smoothie.
  • Fresh fruit that might be a little too overripe to eat, is perfect smoothie fruit.  So you end up wasting less fruit!
  • Frozen fruit is really convenient and you can keep it on hand all the time.
  • Frozen fruit is still crazy healthy for you!
  • Frozen fruit can sometimes be cheaper, especially if the fruit is out of season and hard to find fresh locally.
  • Frozen fruit means you need little to no ice for your smoothies.

With all those pros and cons, it is really hard to say if fresh or frozen fruit is best for a smoothie.  It really depends on a lot of factors.  Both options will result in a delicious smoothie though and that is all that really matters!

There are many blenders you can use for making smoothies, but I personally own the Vitamix 780 and think it is simply the best.  I get smooth, consistent results every single time which is exactly what I want for all my smoothies!  You can buy your own Vitamix 780 HERE.

So are we ready to get to it?  It's time to share my Strawberry Mango Smoothie Bowl recipe with you!
