Recently I shared our Herringbone Tile Floor Installation that we completed in our downstairs half bathroom.  It was a huge success and we love how it turned out!  So we decided to turn our efforts to our kid's bathroom upstairs.  This room also had linoleum in it and we were anxious to update it as well.

So we took a trip to The Tile Shop and came back with some inspiration!

Our Tile Choice for a Bathroom #diy #tile #bathroom

Both my husband and I love travertine!  It is our favorite natural stone!  It is warm and beautiful and the variations in it are incredible.  We found this beautiful tumbled travertine that we knew would look lovely and would also be very simple to install since it came on 12"x12" segments.

So we set to work demo-ing the bathroom!  We removed our quarter round molding and our toilet.  After that the linoleum ripped up very easily.

Because this bathroom is on the second story of our home, we have wood sub-floor.  Before we did anything else we went over the floor to make sure that no nails were sticking up and that the wood floor was secured down well.  If you have any parts of your wood sub-floor that are loose, add a few nails where needed to secure it down.

Next up I will be showing you how to Install Concrete Backer Board!  So stay tuned as we turn this ho-hum bathroom into something fabulous!
