Hi Simply Designing readers! I'm Barbara from Chase the Star where I write about simple and inexpensive ways to add style to your home, and as a mom, I get to share some parenting adventures as well! I'm so excited to be here today!
Headshot and Button Collage
One of the many ways to add style to your home is to incorporate color into your decor. Personally I love a bright and cheery home, and for me that can only come in the form of lots of light, and COLOR!
A very easy way to add color to any area is with paint. Painting the walls is great, but even just slapping a coat of paint on a small piece can really make a difference! This was just a boring cedar outdoor planter until I added a few shades of color to it:

Now it brightens up my garden!
I also added a punch of color in my boy's bedroom with a quick update. I took an plain dresser from Ikea and painted it a bright red! They love baseball so I scored major 'mom points' by adding some subway wording about their favorite team.

If you notice on the bottom left corner, I threw in a pop of aqua by painting the outside of a wicker basket, which holds their video game accessories.

Paint isn't the only way I add color to my home though. I love using fabric in my decor. In the living room I replaced the old pillow covers with some beautiful and colorful fabric.

Even fabric with a neutral pallet and just a hint of color can do the trick. Working with colorful accessories like this tray, blue glass bottle and bright purple plant, are also great ways to add color!
Lastly, to bring some life in to an otherwise dark and dreary hallway in my home, I went monochromatic! I printed random pictures I had sitting in my computer over the years and spray painted inexpensive frames in the same shade of blue.

Contrasting the bold shade of blue with black and white really makes the blue pop and brightens up the entire space, while keeping the overall look polished.
These are just a few of many inexpensive, easy, and fast methods to add color to any home! For more of my decor and crafting ideas, stop by Chase the Star and follow me on Facebook and Pinterest!
I hope this little glimpse at my 'colorful' ideas has inspired you! How do you incorporate color into your home?
