Winter Cleaning...it's a thing... {Giveaway + Free Printable Checklist}

Everyone always talks about Spring Cleaning.  And while I love spring cleaning, about mid-winter I get an itch to de-clutter and deep clean my home!  Over the last several weeks, my husband and I have spent many hours purging and organizing, and it feels AMAZING! (more on that later though)

And then, it was time to tackle a little deep cleaning.

Winter Cleaning.  It's a thing.  I promise.  ðŸ™‚

I love a deep cleaned home, but as I have gotten older, I have noticed that many harsh chemicals actually give me a bad migraine.  I need a clean home, but I can't suffer the rest of the day with a migraine because of it.  So I am always on the look out for cleaning supplies that aren't harsh but still get the job done.

This is one of the reasons I absolutely LOVE HomeRight's SteamMachine!  It gives me the ability to steam clean and sanitize just about anything, using only water!  So I can sanitize and clean my home, without getting a migraine!  Wahoo!!  (Be sure to read the whole post to see how you can enter to win a SteamMachine for yourself too!)

HomeRight Steam Machine Giveaway at Simply Designing | #giveaway #cleaning

I worked hard to deep clean my home this past weekend and so I wanted to share with you my quick cheat sheet for deep cleaning!  And it's yours to print and use for FREE!

Winter Cleaning Checklist | Free printable checklist for deep cleaning! This is perfect for spring or winter cleaning! | #cleaning #printable #free
Winter Cleaning Checklist (click here to download)

In addition to the items on my checklist, I also gave my SteamMachine a run for it's money this past week!  In fact I cleaned almost my entire bathroom with it and it did a great job.

Here are a few items I cleaned with my SteamMachine:

Inside of Oven and Glass Door

How to clean your Oven Glass Door | simple way to clean dirt and grime off of your glass oven door with a steammachine | #cleaning #kitchencleaning

I typically use my self clean setting to clean the inside of my oven, but if you don't have a self clean setting, a SteamMachine will do the job!  Regardless, the glass on most oven doors often gets pretty grimey and dirty and using your SteamMachine with the wire bristled brush will clean it up in just a few minutes!

Bathroom Mirrors

Steam clean mirrors and windows | simple way to clean windows and mirrors with a steammachine | #cleaning

The SteamMachine comes with an attachment perfect for cleaning mirrors and windows.  Be careful with windows though, if the temperature is too cold it can shatter your glass.  Since we have crazy cold weather right now I couldn't test this on my windows, but I cleaned my kids bathroom mirror (that is by far the dirtiest mirror in our home) and without even scrubbing, it was perfectly clean and shiny again!  I can't wait to try this on my windows in the spring.

Bathroom Counter and Sink

How to quickly sanitize and clean your bathroom without harsh chemicals | #cleaning #naturalcleaning

While I had my SteamMachine out I used it on my kid's bathroom counter and sink (again, it was super gross).  It did a great job getting dried off toothpaste off of the counter!  All I had to do was spray it for a few seconds with my SteamMachine and then wipe it off with a cloth.

Faucet

How to clean your bathroom without harsh chemicals using a SteamMachine | #cleaning #naturalcleaning
This did a great job getting grime and hard water build up off of the kid's faucet too.  I love how sparkly clean it is!

Toilets

How to clean and sanitize your toilet without harsh chemicals | #cleaning #naturalcleaning

I won't show you before photos of my kid's toilet (ew) but let's just remember that I have young children, including a boy.  So, ya.  The whole thing needs to be cleaned and sanitized regularly.  The pressure of the SteamMachine did a great job cleaning all the yuckiness off that builds up in all the crevices around a toilet.  This might just be the very best way to clean toilets!

Shower

How to remove mold and mildew from showers and tubs | #cleaning #naturalcleaning

Is that not the grossest thing ever!?  Ew.  There is this place where my kid's tub meets the side panels and I have never had a lot of luck cleaning in between the two because of how it angles.  Toothbrushes help, but there are places I still can never get to.  Ew.  Well, in literally seconds the SteamMachine was able to get all of the yuckiness off!  This was an absolute miracle worker in my kid's shower!  Hurray!

The SteamMachine can also be used for many other things like:

  • Steam cleaning curtains
  • Steam cleaning upholstered sofas, chairs or pillows
  • Baseboards
  • Windows
  • Grout and tile
  • Floors (linoleum and tile, but not laminate)
  • Removing wallpaper

In other words, it is an amazing machine that I absolutely love!

And I am so excited to be able to give one away today!

Awesome! We have a HUGE glass wall in our shower that is a bear to clean. This steamer would really help me out!

I have 3 little boys so reading that you can use the steam machine to clean the bathroom?! It would be such a blessing to say the least. Thanks for the opportunity!

We would give this to the boys and tell them to go clean their nasty bathroom. I think the older they get the messier they are about being clean. My wife is quite glad I have mostly outgrown that. Enjoy your tips.

I used to have one of these and loved it. After your post, I need to look into another steam cleaner like the SteamMachine you are using!
