We have recently had two big snowstorms and I am sure more are coming before winter is up.  With the blustery weather and the below freezing temperatures I am always on the search for fun and simple indoor activities to do with my kiddos.  This one is inspired by my local Children's museum's Winter Jolly Days exhibit.  At certain hours during the day, they bring out these soft and fluffy "snowballs" and let the kids have an indoor snowball fight.  It's a lot of fun!

So I decided to set about creating a few soft and fluffy snowballs of my own and here is what I came up with!

To make these super cute indoor snowballs, you will need:
  • white yarn
  • 3"x5" index card (or similar)
  • scissors

I created my snowballs by making a basic yarn pom pom.  I simply wrapped the yarn around my 3x5 index card many times (like about 40 times!).  The use a smaller piece of yarn to tie around the middle.
Then you will just snip all the loops and voila!  An instant indoor snowball!
You and your kids can have a lot of fun sneak attaching each other with snowballs or having an all out family snowball fight!  They are so soft that even the youngest of child can participate and no one gets hurt.
Yup.  That's right.  There will be NO tears, NO crying of "he hit me", no injuries...well...ok, I can't really promise what your kids will and will not say or do.  But at our house, all of those were absent!  It was pure bliss!

So don't worry, even if it is too cold to go outside and have a real snowball fight, you can still create your own indoor snowball kit and have hours of endless, soft and fluffy fun!
Oh.  And if you like this idea, would you please take a moment to Pin It?  Thanks so much!
Enjoy!
