Big thanks to Dollar Tree and the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club for making this post possible!
All opinions and photos are 100% mine.

I can't believe how quickly Halloween snuck up on me this year!  Didn't school just start!?  Well today I am excited to share with you a really cute, really simple and really fun Halloween Craft that you can make with your kids!  Boo Bat and Ghost Treat Holders!

Bat and Ghost Treat Holders | simple Halloween kids craft | #halloween #bats #ghosts #craft #diy #kidscraft #valueseekersclub

One of the best things about this project is that I was able to dig into the stash of empty toilet paper rolls that my daughter hides in her room.  Yes.  My sweet 7 year old hoards empty toilet paper rolls.  I asked her why once and she told me it was so she could make a craft with them.  Being a crafter myself, I thought that was a valid enough reason, so I let her continue to collect them.

If you don't have a stash of empty toilet paper rolls hanging around your house, you can easily head to your local Dollar Tree store and pick up a $1 pack of toilet paper to use for this project!

While you are there be sure to also pick up:

  • googly eyes
  • glue (I used hot glue but any liquid glue would work for this project!)
  • construction paper (you'll need black paper)
  • paint (black and white, not watercolor)
  • paint brush
  • scissors
  • empty toilet paper rolls
  • candy

Once you've gathered all your supplies it's time to begin crafting!

Go to the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club to see the full directions!

Because Halloween is over, this link no longer works.  So here is how to create these for yourself!

  1. Paint your toilet paper rolls using a foam brush.
  2. Let dry.
  3. Cut bat wings out of black paper (if creating bats)
  4. Use glue to attach googly eyes.  Attach wings if you are creating bats.
  5. Let dry.
  6. Fold tops and bottoms of toilet paper rolls in and fill with candy or special holiday treats!

Before I started the bats, I knew that this project would lend itself to creating other treat holders as well!  My kids love ghosts, so we also decided to paint some of our toilet paper rolls white, add the googly eyes and created a few Ghost Treat Holders as well!

My kids LOVED the Bat and Ghost Treat Holders!  And they loved giving them away as gifts to friends!  This makes a perfect Halloween kid craft, activity at a party or even a great little gift for your children to hand out!

I was inspired to create these by the Dollar Tree Value Seekers Club!  Did you know they have a great online site full of crafts, recipes and decor ideas all with products from the Dollar Tree!  So you know they will be fun and frugal!  Membership is FREE and the content changes monthly!  Go HERE to check out their site!

These are adorable! These would be perfect for my son's Halloween party, but I don't think I have enough time to get these done before Saturday. This would be a fun thing for the kid's and I to do together though before Halloween!

Very cool! I did not know about the Value Seekers Club at all. I just did a Dollar Tree post this morning (http://thrifterindisguise.blogspot.com/2013/10/dollar-tree-kids-craft-supplies-made-in.html), so funny timing on this, too. Must be a sign 🙂
