Marquees are so popular right now and I have been wanting one in my home for a long time.  But I didn't want a large, flashy, overpowering marquee.  I just wanted something little; a cute small stylish accent to my home.  And I am really excited to share what I came up with today!  This Faux Metal Arrow Marquee is stunning but so super simple to create!  Read on and I will share all my tips and tricks with you so that you can create one for your home too!  And a big thanks goes out to DecoArt for making this post possible today, all ideas and opinions are my own.

Faux Metal Arrow Marquee

My daughter takes ballet lessons and her studio is dangerously close to a several craft stores.  I have been known to occasionally pop into one to see what fun things I can find.  The other day while my daughter was dancing away, my son and I stopped into Michaels and I found the coolest thing ever: this Marquee Love Letter Kit from Heidi Swapp!  And I was thrilled to find an arrow shape.  I snatched it up and left the store with only a million bags full of goodies.

Supplies

I decided that I wanted to create a metallic looking arrow marquee and so I grabbed one of my favorite bottles of paint: Americana Multi Surface Metallic Paint in Gold and my favorite foam brush (also from Michaels) and began painting!

Paint Arrow Marquee

The arrow marquee is made out of a sturdy cardboard which makes painting it a cinch!  I painted on the first coat but had trouble fitting my brush into the tight corners of the arrow, so I used a small bristle brush and just dry brushed around all the corners and edges to ensure that the gold paint covered all of the surfaces.

I painted two coats of paint and let the arrow marquee dry completely.

Then I pushed the clear bulb caps through the front of the letter and inserted the led light strands into the backs of the bulb.

And in very little time I ended up with a beautiful Faux Metal Arrow Marquee that is the perfect little accent piece for my home!

Insert Lights Into Arrow Marquee

I love Americana Multi Surface paint!  It paints beautifully on nearly any surface and their metallic colors are simply stunning!  It really does look like this arrow marquee could be made out of metal!  And I love the lights turned on or off, but I especially love that no cords are needed since the light strand the letter came with is battery powered!

Lighted Arrow Marquee

Isn't it so pretty lighted?  I love it unlighted too though!
