We are sure enjoying donuts this week.  And I am having a blast using my new Select Brands babycakes Donut Maker!!  I love this donut maker!

I am excited to tell you that babycakes has just launched packaged mixes for use in their fabulous appliances!  How convenient is that!?

And I had the opportunity to try one for the donut maker!  The chocolate donut mix with chocolate frosting.  Yum.

The directions were very easy to follow and I just needed to add a few staple ingredients to the mix: an egg, oil and buttermilk.  (I keep powdered buttermilk on hand.)

I mixed the ingredients and was surprised at how thick this mixture was.  It made me a little nervous, but I put the batter in my ziploc bag, cut the tip off and filled each donut crevice with it.  Exactly 3 minutes later my first batch of donuts was ready.  And despite how thick the batter was, the donuts were moist, the perfect consistency and delicious looking.

After they cooled just a bit, I had to taste test one.  Yum-o.

I was surprised at how rich the chocolate was.  They are not milk chocolate donuts, they are a deep, dark, rich chocolate.  Oh.  My.  Yum.

After the donuts cooled, I made the frosting that came with the donut mix.  It was incredibly easy to mix, you just add melted butter and milk to the mix and whisk until smooth.  I did find I needed a bit more milk then suggested on the box, but overall it was still so simple.

I thought that babycakes Chocolate Donut mix was very simple to use and resulted in delish donuts!  I was surprised at how rich the flavor was and how good the texture was.  These were definitely a success!

They also passed the husband test: he loved the donuts!  I got compliments a couple of times from him about how good the donuts were!  And I fully expect that when I wake up in the morning, there won't be many left!

I just hope he leaves me a couple of donuts to take pretty pictures with in the morning 🙂

Remember, stop by Thursday to enter to win your own Select Brands babycakes Donut Maker!

I was not compensated for this review.  However, Select Brands sent me a babycakes Donut Maker and the Chocolate Donut mix for purposes of this review.  The opinions expressed are 100% mine.  Go here to find out more about babycakes products.
