PLAY Shadow Box

I am still trying to figure out my son's room.  It is in desperate need of decoration.  Girls are so easy in my opinion, but I have a bit harder of a time finding cute boy things.

I saw an amazing idea for a shadow box several months ago that I thought would be perfect for a little boy's room.  Sadly, I can not find the link to it anymore.  So using my memory and a whole lot of creativity, I figured out how to make my own version of a PLAY Shadowbox for my son's room!

Here is my PLAY Shadow Box!!!

This was a lot of fun to make!

First I took a left over piece of wood I had from another project and cut it down to the correct size.
Next I took 1"x1" and made a "frame" to fit on top of my wood  I enlisted my hubby's help to nail gun the wooden frame to my board.  He also was really sweet and puttied it for me too!  What a sweetheart!
Third, I painted my shadow box blue using craft paint.
Fourth, I sanded the edges and applied a coat of stain to the whole thing and let it dry completely.
Fifth, I cut my truck out of cream vinyl, and my "play" out of red vinyl and applied the vinyl to the shadowbox.   (see my tutorial on how to apply vinyl)
Last, I used a rub on, satin finish polyurethane finish on the entire project and let it dry completely!
Don't you LOVE how it turned out?!?
